What can a figure reveal without ever telling a story? Explore the world of Sarah Bechter, where figures, colour, and gesture challenge ideas of identity and belonging.

Step into the studio of one of Austria’s leading contemporary painters. Through painting, Sarah Bechter explores the relationship between the body and its surroundings, creating a subtle tension between what is visible and what remains hidden. In some installations, she extends painting into space through freestanding canvases and screen-like structures, making the viewer an active part of the work.

Her work is held in public collections such as Belvedere 21, the Wien Museum, and the City of Vienna Art Collection.

Bechter’s works are currently on view in the exhibition it’s giving real, on view until 23 August 2026.
