Studio Visit – Lukáš Novák
7. May 2026
How does one work with glass and concrete — two seemingly different materials? Where is Lukáš Novák taking his practice, and how does he think about the transformation of the art object?
Visit the studio of Lukáš Novák, artist and conceptual glassmaker, and discover what led to the creation of SILICA, an exhibition held at Galerie U Betlémské kaple from 22 April to 31 May. Learn how Novák incorporates materials beyond glass into his work.
The SILICA project marks a significant shift in the artist’s approach to material and to the very nature of the art object. Here, material ceases to serve merely as the bearer of a final form and instead becomes part of an open process, dissolving in relation to other substances. Together with concrete and mineral structures, glass forms a dynamic system of growth, tension, and continuous transformation. The exhibition is the result of a long-term collaboration between the artist and KodlContemporary.
