KodlContemporary presents the site-specific exhibition Gridfall by Jakub Jansa and Pavla Malinová, set in the Leichter House, a former publishing house built by Jan Kotěra between 1908 and 1910. Once a symbol of faith in modern architecture, culture and society, it becomes a resonant body of the exhibition, reflecting not only historical memory but also the current uncertainty about the direction in which today’s world should be heading. The sensitive installation, responding to the architecture and history of Leichter House, allows us to perceive this multi-layered place as a stage on which to explore how our ability to navigate reality is changing, where original systems and perception of time are disintegrating and faith in the future becomes part of the past. The artistic approaches of both authors create symbolically charged fictional worlds that transcend the common perception of time and space. Pavla Malinová works mainly with painting, Jakub Jansa with video and installation, but both are united by an interest in stylized imagery, mythology, and layered narrative.
