Pavlína Kvita
Pavlína Kvita (1988), a graduate of Lukáš Rittstein’s sculpture studio at Prague’s Academy of Fine Arts, creates art that balances on the line between organic and cold, technological forms. Her work is a combination of personal mythology, the animal and human worlds, and static architectural shapes. It feels like an encounter between the ancient and the absolutely contemporary. An important part of her sculptures is the concept of movement and the possibility of its transformation. This approach is reflected in her current work in which she mainly uses concrete and acrystal, but it can also be found in older pieces that explore elements of the suburban landscape such as the satellite developments currently springing up on the outskirts of large cities. It is a kind of post-landscape whose non-living structures are filled with the same sense of impermanence and change as her slightly futuristic beings, headless torsos, and organic creations. Her sculptures also reflect the presence of the four basic elements of fire, water, earth, and air, as well as her sensitive approach to working with the duality of birth and hope, decline and death. Within the context of personal experience, hers is a constant search for stability in life, a certain inner exploration of things and archetypes that have existed since time immemorial but that remain relevant today. Pavlína Kvita has participated in numerous exhibitions and surveys of fine art, including foreign showings in Belgium, Milan, and Miami and regular exhibits at group and solo shows in the Czech Republic – e.g., Stance & Rhythm at the AXA Showcase in Prague (2024) and Anima at the Cifra Gallery in Doubice (2021).
